The kitchen is no longer just a place for preparing food; it has become a stage where speed, health, and experience intersect. Designed for Tanatar, the MiiTi Infrared Cooker takes on a new role within this space. Reinterpreting traditional cooking habits, MiiTi uses infrared technology to transfer heat directly into the food, delivering a faster, more efficient, and more controlled cooking experience. This product is more than a kitchen appliance. It is a redefinition of a ritual.
The project began with a simple yet ambitious question: “Is it possible to achieve a professional grilling experience at home?”
In pursuing this idea, the process was shaped around four core principles:speed, control, flavor, and comfort. Unlike conventional methods, infrared heating targets the internal structure of the food rather than just the surface. This approach not only reduces cooking time but also preserves the natural integrity of ingredients, resulting in cleaner and more balanced outcomes.
Through Design Thinking workshops, we reframed Tanatar's initial goals — and found a more efficient, more scalable, and strategically far stronger product waiting on the other side. The process ran in parallel with Tanatar's engineering team. Form decisions were developed alongside DFM requirements, not after them. The result was a design that didn't need to be compromised in production.
From the beginning, the strategy was clear: not one product, but a system. A design language built to scale.
Idea
Smoke and odor have always been the price of grilling indoors. Tanatar's patented infrared technology eliminated that price entirely. Our task was to translate this technological edge into a product that could compete on the world stage — not just perform in the lab.
Form
Industrial durability. Technological presence. These were Tanatar's two non-negotiables — and stainless steel was the only material that could carry both without compromise. The compact form was a deliberate strategic decision. The same design system, the same production infrastructure — scaled to Medium, Large, and XL. One investment. A full product family.
Function
Infrared cooking makes the invisible visible. You see what you cook, as you cook it. The design was built around this transparency — putting the technology at the center of the experience, not behind it. The hinged upper plate was engineered to move with intention: smooth to open, easy to clean, natural to use. The control interface followed the same logic. Minimum touch. Maximum control.
Differentiation
No other grill in the world uses infrared technology in this way. This is Tanatar's patented solution — and it belongs to them alone. Designed for both domestic and international markets, MiiTi doesn't compete within a category. It creates one. The modular growth architecture ensures that Tanatar can expand the family without reinventing the system.
Impact
Two international juries. The same verdict: iF Design Award 2026 and A' Design Silver.Lower energy consumption than conventional systems. Zero smoke. Zero odor. A grill that finally belongs in every kitchen — not just the ones with open windows.
Tanatar is a company built on engineering. Design, for them, had always been a finishing step — not a starting point.
Part of our work was to change that. Through structured Design Thinking sessions, we demonstrated that design-led thinking could unlock value that pure engineering couldn't reach alone. The product that emerged was not the product Tanatar initially envisioned. It was better.
For us, this project was a proof of something we've always believed: the right process, the right partnership, and no technical constraint is truly insurmountable.
MiiTi is Tanatar's first product to reach beyond the Turkish market. With a patented technology and a scalable design system, the company now holds the foundation of an international product family — built on a single investment.
Two international design awards confirm what the product already says for itself.
MiiTi is not just a grill. It is proof that the right design partnership changes what a company believes is possible.
